PRESS & PUBLICITY: Getting your business name known and out there!!!

It’s been three weeks since I first went online. I went into the admin section of my website, clicked on my account, and flicked the little yes button to go online.

YAY!!!!

One might think!!!

But like most people who make jewellery and try and sell it, it’s a hard slog.

You have to get customers to your store, and that’s by promoting yourself. And that means finding ways of giving out business cards, pinning flyers in places they won’t be ripped down from. Radio, tv, magazines etc. It’s a pain in the behind most of the time to the degree you get a migraine just trying to come up with ways of getting your name known to the people.

And depending on where you live and what you do and what sort of life you have, then you can let your co-workers, friends and family know. Then there’s Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Blogger, anyhow you can find to get people to know your name. And even then, you have to work hard at getting followers and having people read your ramblings.

And that doesn’t always equate to getting people to your site, or making them buy some of your goodies.

I have no idea what else to do, so if anyone who’s already been there and done that can shed some light on what you did, how you went about it and offer some advice, then please share.

    Have your tried Flickr?

Web ads are cheaper than print ads so you can try Google Ads or Facebook Ads? What about a small spot in the local newspaper? Or maybe a brochure that you can put in people’s mailbox (that way you don’t have to spend money on stamps and shits)… I don’t know if my ideas help you lol These would be the less costy ways to promote yourself. That I can think of, at least lol

    Haven’t tried Flicker yet.

I’ve put up a flyer in my local shopping centre, for $2 a week, that goes to charity.

I’ve handed out business cards, but not to many.

Flyers are a bit costly so I’m keeping them to a minimum in my area.

I’ve thought of Facebook ads, but I’m not sure about how that works or how much it would cost. Same with Google ads.

    Must check into those.
