Even though it was allocated TWO HOURS of airtime, the finale of My Kitchen Rules STILL ran over by 15 minutes.
This has been happening for years, but back then our TV Week, and network heads, never bothered informing anyone of such things, that the networks were trying to outdo each other by running their most popular shows over their allocated schedule time just to try and keep their viewers, and their ratings, up.
It pissed A LOT of people off and obviously there was backlash, so a year or two ago TV Week started running shows over, giving them an extra 15 minutes and it all worked fine.
Until last night.
Last night was not only the finale of MKR, but the debut of brand new Aussie drama, A Place To Call Home.
Scheduled, and advertised, as starting at 8:30pm.
HOWEVER, it didn’t!
And while tv shows running late piss me off, so do boring dramas.
I had high hopes for this show, and yes, I was flicking back and forth between it and Elementary, but it was slow to start and get going. Even though the adds made it look good and I suppose I will still flick back and forth, I just don’t think it’s going to keep my attention.
Which is a pity because we need to get back to having Aussie shows on tv.
TV Networks STILL can’t keep a show in its allocated time slot
