Laroche-Posay’s ABCDE Method to Checking Skin Cancer

As a person who has had several skin cancers cut off thanks to having hundreds of moles, 6-monthly check-ups are important.
Here’s the check list from Laroche, showing the ABCDE Method of checking your moles.

Sudden appearance of new moles

8 times out of 10

Melanomas occur outside of pre-existing moles. It is therefore important to prioritise identifying the appearance of new pigmented lesions.

Changes in an existing mole

Melanoma can occur on moles you already have, causing them to change rapidly, either growing, changing shape, colour, becoming itchy or bleeding involuntarily.
