What I did on my first Writing Holiday for 2021

My first writing holiday for the year ended back on Monday, but, as I mentioned in the first Book Month post, with all of the public holidays, and then the school holidays, it was easier to just take the whole month off.

So here’s what I got up to this month.

My T.K. Wrathbone large print and hardcover books went up for pre-order on April 1st, and no, that’s not an April Fool’s Day joke. They went live on the 20th and sold quickly, just as quickly as the hundreds of adult novels when they went live on the 20th of March.

I also made all of the Pinterest boards for Susan Sand, Dana Girls, Hardys, Trixie and Nancy live on the 1st. It took about ten days to get all of those posts and supporting Pinterest boards done and I was still doing them at the beginning of the month as I had to copyright all of the photos.

I hired a design company to create a new logo for myself which will be on the tiaraking.com.au website next month when I upload a new theme. I’ll temporarily close it for the theme to be uploaded and for me to change it to my liking, but it will be back in time for the 21st of May, my 47th birthday, and the release of my books in hardcover. And there’s still so much to do where they’re concerned, as final preps are still being done for my books which are ready to hit the stands in hardcovers, and a large print for #teenblogger next month. Hopefully by then I’ll be ready to charge forth with actual writing as they are now out of the way, leaving me free to concentrate on new stuff.

On Monday the 12th, I met Gym and we’ve been seeing each other three times a week.

It was something I eluded to in my opening blog posts back in Feb, and it was time to get going doing something about my weight. I’m 47 next month, overweight, in bad health, not that you’d know it by looking at me except for my size, and need to start taking stronger action than just trying to watch what I eat. So I’m doing three days a week and am dedicated (regardless of how much I might hate it and not want to do it) to doing it until December when I’ll slow down for the stinking hot summer months which make me sick, or until I lose all of the weight I want gone and will then cut back to maintain. I also met with one of their personal trainers for advice on which machines were better for me with all of my issues.

That same week, I started attending my library’s newly set up writers’ group, something else I eluded to in my opening blog posts. It was something I asked about last August, and the young lady I spoke to was excited to get something started as there are other authors in the area and they have their books in the library. I spoke to her several times back then, and then it was delayed due to a second round of shutdown for Covid, and then xmas and hot weather, and finally a date was set for April 15th on a Thursday night at one of my local libraries.

We’ve had two meetings over the last three weeks, and it’s three weeks of gym. I had to re-organise my schedule and budget to fit everything in, but I managed it all.

As well as all of that I’ve also had my chiro appointments, and went back on the pill to try and get my cycle regulating again as I’m sick and tired of it being a dick to me. And not in a good way!

There is so much left to do, not just for my writing, but for the year. Why is it, that some people seem to have nothing to do while others seem to have EVERYTHING to do? It’s exhausting, and I’m over it. But as I said at the beginning of the year, I just gotta take it all in stride and get shit done!

Saying that you’ve been busy seems like an understatement. So these are my favorite parts of this post, not just for the big stuff you’re tackling, but for the hilarious way you describe it:

“My T.K. Wrathbone large print and hardcover books went up for pre-order on April 1st, and no, that’s not an April Fool’s Day joke.”

“On Monday the 12th, I met Gym and we’ve been seeing each other three times a week.”

“As well as all of that I’ve also had my chiro appointments, and went back on the pill to try and get my cycle regulating again as I’m sick and tired of it being a dick to me. And not in a good way!”

    Keep on keeping on! 🙂
