There’s a line in an old INXS song, This Time, that says, “we are always wanting, the things we cannot find”. As a collector, this is so true.

We constantly see book series, jewellery, collectables that we want, yet cannot find. We scour eBay, Amazon, second-hand and op shops, everywhere and anywhere we could possible find it. We budget, we bargain, we barter for it.

The magical piece we want desperately.

The all mythical Unicorn.

That one item so rare it’s impossible to find it, and even rarer to be able to buy it.

But, as collectors, we persist. Because we want to own the unownable. The mythical beast. The unicorn.

We want it on our shelf in our office, lounge room, or closet. We want to own and rejoice what we covet.

We collectors are a weird bunch.
