This year, I kept wondering what to do with my tallboy dresser. It’s only four drawers, not very high, needs replacing, but being only waist high, it meant all the space above it was going to waste.
So, I thought long and hard, knew I had to get some kind of shelving to sit on top, but figured it would be something different to what I ended up picking.
The reason I picked it was because I found these awesome pink glitter storage boxes in the kids’ section of my local Kmart.
At only $4 each, I grabbed three as an idea was forming.
Below was my dresser beforehand. As tidy as I could keep it, but it could still get really messy on some days, and there just seemed to be no room. I have shoe boxes stacked beside it, and used them as shelving as well.
After figuring out how I would reorganise it all, I went to my local Fantastic Furniture, where I got my books cases from, and multiple chairs but that’s a different story, and bought a kid’s Buzz bookshelf unit in pink. It also comes in blue, and I might buy one in the future. Being a flat pack, as so many items of furniture are these days, I had to put it together myself. Thankfully, it’s not too heavy, and easily sat on my dresser.
The only thing I needed to do now, was reorganise everything, and everything had a place.
I pulled a few knick knacks from my bookshelves to decorate, like the shoes, unicorns and rainbow, and stacked the glitter boxes on top where I store bags of cotton wool, boxes of ladies items etc, which got them out of my drawers for more room.
So far, everything’s been kept neat and tidy. I have since filled the left pink box with some folios as my bookshelves were overflowing with them, and some medicated items have been added to the shelf in front, but overall, I have so much more room.
Simple neat tricks with simple neat furniture.
I also managed to find these awesome iridescent unicorn lights from Kmart for $3.
What have you guys flat packed your way to lately?
