This year, mainly the last six months of the year, I found myself buying all sorts of toys. I didn’t have some of them when I was a child, but I have found myself buying them now due to a resurgance in American companies licensing the rights to reproduce them.
Let’s start with the brand new Rainbow Brite GLITTER pop funko. Yep, she’s glittered. I never had a RB as a kid, had no need for one, or maybe it was because we were poor, for ’80s Australian standards. What I got was limited each year and most of it was Barbie.

Speaking of, I did manage to get a few Barbie items each year for birthday and Christmas and still have my dolls, Prince the dog, and Dallas the palamino. During my binge buying Nancy Drew days of a decade ago, I bought about 50 Barbie dolls to not only turn into Nancy, Bess and George, but the Hardy Boys, and Ned, Burt and Dave. If you’ve read the early Nancys, you know who they are. I also bought a few collectible Barbies to match the books. Including the X-Files Mulder and Scully to represent Nancy and Frank.
I have bought the odd Barbie bag over the last few years, but this year, I could not go past these two beauties. I won’t be pulling them out of the box to keep them pristine, but they are gorgeous and were $49 each from Kmart.
The Barbie “A Touch of Magic” Pegasus with the coloured wings that move and a chest necklace that lights up when pressed.

And this gorgeous girl had to come home as well. A real life unicorn! She not only lights up with three diffrent colours when you press the three buttons on her head, but you can tilt her head down and she makes noises.

And, for some reason, this Polly Pocket jewel box came home from ebay. I never had PP playsets when I was a kid, but being a jewellery lover, I do know that some of them had crystals on them, so when I find some, I’ll buy some just to say I have them. But, considering this box has stars all over it, and I’m a sucker for stars as well as crystals, I bought it. It is supposed to be mechanised, but it doesn’t work. Not to worry. I just have to find where to put all of these things.

An added extra after posting, is this Crystal Bedtime Bear. I bought him the day before the post went live and only had the chance to photograph and upload it on the Saturday after.
RRP $99AU, I got him for $46AU on sale. I have two other Care Bears. A pink glow-in-the-dark bear, and the Sunshine Bear I managed to get from an op shop. He’s a limited edition, as many are, but, and I don’t know if you’ve noticed some of the limited editions, they have weird wide eyes, like they’re high on crack. However, Bedtime is nice and sleepy and his star glows in the dark.

That’s it for the toys this year. Have you guys collected anything from your childhood? Or anything from the current kids’ ranges that you love and appeals to your inner child?
