Four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth in ruin. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal fifth wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope – if she can only trust him.
I love disaster movies, and I mean L.O.V.E LOVE them. I’ve seen Independence Day 4 or 5 times, 2012 about 10 times now, Twister, San Andreas Fault (movie and made for tv versions), I Am Legend, 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, World War Z, I’ve even seen this is The End with Franco and Rogan, World’s End with Simon Pegg, and so many others. I love seeing the world end and how people deal with it. I even tracked down all the old 70 American tv movies about nuclear bombs, earthquakes (always make good disaster movies), but this movie was shit.
The problem was you didn’t see much. Disasters came in waves (the point of the movie) but were glossed over, then all the adults were killed off and the kids were on their own. It was shit after that. As one review on IMDB said it was more to show off pretty actors instead of having a decent story line. It will appeal to teenagers who like these actors. The movie has no substance.
I give this 3 out of 10
Imagining himself back in the 1890s, Sherlock is visited by Inspector Lestrade after newlywed Emelia Ricoletti, having apparently killed herself in public, murders her husband Thomas in front of witnesses before vanishing. Some months later Holmes is approached by Lady Carmichael, who tells him that her husband Sir Eustace has been threatened by Emelia, who then seemingly does away with him. With an intrusive Moriarty crossing him, Holmes attempts to solve the enigma, with unexpected help from Watson’s wife Mary and evidence of a conspiracy involving half the population of the country.
We haven’t actually had this movie in Australia which is stupid since we’ve had two networks constantly replaying all three series for the last 3-4 years. Yet this was not shown at christmas (as it was constantly mentioned as a christmas episode/movie)and I had to track it down.
I love this retelling of Sherlock. Benedict and Martin are perfect in the roles, but this movie made me bored. It jumps back and forth from the end of the last series when he was being flown off for jail after shooting that guy after finding out Mary was a crim (too long to go into in detail) so it made it confusing. Basically, he took drugs and had a weird dream so it made it all rather disappointing.
I’ll give this 6 out of 10. It could have been so much better.
