IN MY LIFE: I was a part of the Cabbage Patch Kid craze!

Yes, just like millions of others I became a part of the Cabbage Patch Kid craze. I had resisted at first mind you, as the first ones were ugly red heads or not very nice looking blondes. So I went without for a year or two until I found the one.

I received her papers via mail.

Yes, her name at birth was Abigail Fiona, yuck!

But I soon renamed her!

and on her first birthday she received her very own card from the hospital!

Since then the kids have done so much stuff. They are all over the place, even this Aim toothpaste “TOOTHIES” poster.

And then there were the people who claimed theft. There had to be one somewhere.

Either way, Misty Blue has been my baby for way too long and I am feeling way too old! At least she’s out of her dummy, and her nappy!

Believe it or not, I was talking about Cabbage Patch Kids with my husband yesterday (no idea why that would’ve come up, but there you have it). I was saying how weird it was that they all had Xavier Roberts tattooed on their butts. I had a few Cabbage Patch dolls myself and can agree that they were a unique mix of cute and weird, right down to their names. Way to take the initiative in changing yours.

They had Xavier tattooed because it was essentially his trademark / copyright / ownership.

I walkways wanted a Cabbage patch as a kid when they first came out. and my parents said they’d get me one and my aunt would get me another to keep the other one company so Xmas couldn’t come fast enough for me but sadly I doesn’t get any they were sold out everywhere. Talk about gutted so I tried to be happy for family’s sake but I felt so upset as I thought I’d be taking 2 new Cabbage patch dolls into bed with me that night the dolls remaind popular for ages and I remeber the following year a friend got one she had blonde pigtails and a smock dress I remeber getting to hold her and she smelt of vanilla I did eventuly get a doll a few years later in the late 80s but sadly I lost her over the years but now I have rediscover them and I now have about 20 just can’t get enough of them and I plan to get the latest Twinkle toes CPK for my birthday at end of the month so making up on a deprived childhood of not having a Cabbage patch doll I had lots of care bears and my little pony and being in the UK had Sindy dolls too but so wanted a Cabbage patch doll back then
