As a teenager I never suffered from fat ankles. Nope, not me.
As a twenty something I never suffered from fat ankles. Nope, not me.
As a thirty something I never suffered from fat ankles, until about four years ago.
We retain water in summer, it’s got to do with sitting, salt etc, and like most, I got fat ankles in summer. And then, suddenly, I also got fat ankles in winter.
I have no idea why. I can only put it down to sitting due to working and being online all day and what I thought was my back issue.
I suffer badly from sciatica, something that started around the early naughties. I had had a curve in my spine since I was eighteen and suffered bad neck and lower back issues. They got worse the older I got and so four years ago I went to a chiropractor. I was told that the scoliosis I had since 18 and something that went through my family was not in fact scoliosis but simply a curve. She cracked that thing out of me within a year and my back was perfectly straight. But I still suffer pain from it and I still suffer massive sciatic pain from it. I can’t even bend over without flaring it up and being crippled.
So that was what I thought was causing my fat ankles, but I asked her and she said it’s from sitting.
So, that’s why our ankles get fat. That and genetics of course. There are a variety of things to use like pee pills and foot vibrators but I can’t afford $300 for the latest foot vibrator so I asked what there was in the chemist and strangely she suggested surgical stockings. Mainly used for flying and diabetics but it wasn’t something I immediately put into practice.
I kept suffering and finally decided to give it a go. Digging them out I pulled them on. I had them years ago from my nose surgery and laparoscopy, and thought I’d put my orthotic sandals on as well however they made my feet sweat.
The pressure forces all the fluid in your ankles back up your leg and gets rid of it that way. You don’t pee any extra than normal, and they don’t hurt unless they’re really tight. My feet can get really fat and really tight and if this will save that then I’ll keep doing it.
I wore them for the rest of the day and night and pulled them off the next morning. The first time, below, they shrunk, but not much. The second time they really shrunk.
If you can’t afford $300 for a foot vibrator, regardless of who advertises it or recommends it, then I suggest giving surgical/diabetic/flying socks a go. I’ll be doing this every time I have to go out. Yank them on the day before and have nice slim ankles the next day.
What have you guys used to get rid of cankles?
