Fashion Store’s Fashion Fails: Your Sizing Sucks!

JDS - FASHION STORES FASHION FAILS

I have a couple of issues that I am sick and tired of that most stores can’t be bothered sorting out, and no, I’m not referring to all the stores mentioned in the above picture.

1 – It’s time to take notice of buyers and what THEY want.

It’s time stores started buying the right sized stock for each area and buying MORE of them. Sales records would clearly show that larger sizes sell out faster because the sales racks are always full of size 6 (which NO woman is so get very real about that fact right now), 8, 10 and 12 and they are incredibly small cuts. The majority of women in my area are not these sizes, hence that’s what’s left over at the end of season and never end up selling.

When it comes to clothes, smaller sizes need to be abolished and there needs to be ONE SET of sizes across the WHOLE store. Not have an 18 be ten sizes smaller in the youth/teen/young women section (which can be too small for me) than the 18 in the larger section (which is too big for me).

There is no consistency across sizing and there needs to be as I seem to be stuck in the middle of two sections. I either buy large and take it in or buy small and hope it fits. NOT HAPPY JAN!

The clothes the stores buy for smaller girls/women also needs to be across the larger sizes so that we all have the choice to wear them, not deny us a certain design or style because it’s not in our size.

I hate it when stores, and Kmart and Best & Less do this, choose to segregate their smaller sizes from their larger sizes. Which means 6-16 is in one section of the store, and 18-28 is in another. It’s not right, it’s not fair and it’s discriminatory. It means larger sizes miss out on the funky stuff in the smaller section and end up with over stretched, horrible, rubbish lacking in colour and style.

2 – Also we want to wear great clothes in different colours. Stop buying so many clothes in the same drab dreary colours of black, white, grey, or navy. I was expecting colourful sequinned tops in green and red for last xmas but there was nothing. NOTHING. Only sequinned tops in the usual black and white. Blech! Get more colours in and see what sells. I want turquoise and fuchsia, red and emerald. All shades of these colours instead of boring bloody neutrals.

3 – As for shoes, for the love of God take them up to a size 12 in the women’s section because our feet do spread with age you know.

I know all the clothes and shoes are made in your Chinese (or other country) factories which I have no problem with, but we are not teeny tiny Asians. WE ARE AUSTRALIANS!!!!!!! We are big people who want nice clothes and funky shoes that ACTUALLY FIT US!!!!!!! And Fit us properly which size ten shoes no longer do.

It sucks that my feet are spreading with old age. They’ve spread a little so are wider, they’ve gotten a little longer and a little fatter, and shoes have gotten smaller and narrower, so shoes made in China no longer fit me and now that means spending hundreds of dollars on properly made shoes meant for people with feet issues. NOT HAPPY JAN! That will be expensive!

You’re not catering for all shapes and sizes and that’s sad in this day and age, especially when we are one of the most obese countries in the world. Cut out teeny tiny bird sizes, get a better cut of clothing and have a proper set of sizes across the whole store.

It’s time for an evolution in women’s clothing and if you’re not prepared to do then then hire me and I’ll bloody well do it!
